Harry H. Sprinker established Pierce County's first Parks & Recreation Department in 1958.

Sprinker was dedicated to Harry H. Sprinker on July 16, 1976 to honor his work and dedication to Parks & Recreation in Pierce County.

Sprinker Recreation Center is the only facility of its kind in the state, and perhaps the country, that offers the vast array of recreational options in one place.

Sprinker Recreation Center, including the ballfields, currently hosts approximately 300,000 visitors each year.

Sprinker saw nearly nearly 500,000 visitors and spectators in 2009.

Sprinker participants include: 182,000 for indoor activities and 131,000 for outdoor events. These numbers do not include spectators.

Sprinker attracts a little more than 50% of Pierce County residents each year.

Sprinker Recreation Center's revenue accouns for more than 50% of the Parks & Rec's total revenue, county-wide.

Sprinker currently generates approximately $950,000 in revenue each year.

Parks & Rec subsidizes approximately $1.4M of Sprinker's operating costs each year. That works out to about $4 per participant; far less than other County facilities.

Sprinker serves users from all over Pierce County, and beyond, and its users range in age from babies to Senior Citizens.

Sprinker is much more than ice skating and hockey. It also offers belly dancing, gymnastics, ballet, Zumba, Karate, Dog obedience, tennis, and much more.

Parks & Rec's Learn-to-Skate program has approximately 400 kids and adults, ranging in age from 3 - 99.

Parks & Rec's Learn-to-Play Hockey program has approximately 100 kids ages 4 - 16.

Sprinker also has adult Hockey and averages 15-20 adults per session.

Sprinker is booked with programs from 6:30am - 10:00pm nearly every day.

Sprinker's Public Ice Skating Sessions average approximately 175 - 200 people per session. (year-round average)

Sprinker's Spire Rock is used daily by both organized and unorganized climbers ranging in age from youth to adult.
